100 page books
I have been trying to come up with an rationalization for reading books of one hundred+ pages for book reports, biographies, etc. which seems to often be a requirement. I have been searching the professional literature as well as contacted other professional organizations. If you have a rationalization from a faculty member or personally, please pass it on off-list and I will compile them.

Not sure if this hits what you're looking for, but I teach with several teachers who make that a requirement. I don't agree with it at all. There are a ton of books that are quality pieces that are under a hundred pages (The Pearl to name one). I always stress to my kids that they read a variety of different books, both in content and length.
