How Do You Stay Motivated?
Facilitating learning is a complex task in and of itself. Add with it the managing of people and information of various ages, types, and abilities and you have some small idea of what teaching entails.
How do you stay motivated in this profession where there is such high responsibility and low control?
I'll be posting a piece on motivation in the field on the Educator's Royal Treatment next week to follow this discussion.

I need the creative all spark that comes from a variety of places. The inspiration might be Twitter, ning, AP listserve or even people not even related to my teaching. Being open to insight is key.

I would have to agree with what everyone has said so far. My students definitely keep me motivated. Seeing their excited faces, hearing them laugh and truly enjoy what they're doing, having them ask questions because they really want to know, and catching those light-bulb moments are several of the things that make me think that I am where I am supposed to be! A supportive network, whether through at work or online, is also a great motivator. The constant flow of resources, ideas and encouragement are both stimulating and uplifting and can make a world of difference on a bad day.
