MP3 Players would be a great start. If every teacher had one, you could start some serious podcasting. Can also purchase some mp3 players that'll handle video as well for under $50.
Along those lines, an external microphone for the computer (for podcasting) and/or a webcam for video conferencing.
I concur with the others who hav ementioned multimedia type equipment. Webcam, microphone, mp3 player, digital voice recorder...or how about a subscription to one of the great web 2.0 type sites that offer better features on the paid side (,,,,, etc...).
Combine the money and purchase document cameras for the school. Depending on how many teachers you have in your building. You will get more use out of those then something for under $50 dollars.

Read my blog post I did to see all you can do....
I probably should've been more specific in my question. Our campus has around 1000 students, and every grade level from grade 3 and above the teacher has a laptop, document camera, interwrite school pad, and lcd projector. Last year they all received a digital camera, sd card, and card reader. This year we have purchased a few flip cameras. Several teachers that use video alot have external hard drives. I recommended a few more flip cameras or better digital cameras, but it was over the money limit. She wanted to spend around $50 and I was at a loss of what to recommend. I try to let my teachers know they are so fortunate with all the technology that is available to them and I'm not for sure we always make the best use of it. I love all of the ideas that are coming in though. Thanks so much.
I should make a comprehensive list of everything they have. We also purchased headphone/microphone sets for all. The media center and special education teachers have mp3 for audiobooks. We also purchased video ipods for department levels in the high school.
Makes more sense now. You might provide wireless presentation devices/mouse so that they can move around the room while still giving presentations or using their cimputers. Targus makes some good ones that we have used at my school.

can't think of much else not already mentioned....
we have talked about wireless mics - do you have any information about where i might find wireless mics? thanks for your input and help.
A years subscription to to spice up those instructional moments!
i contacted prezi for educational pricing, but never got any reply or further information. do you know the cost of a subscription to prezi?
I believe there are no educational pricing as of yet. I went ahead and bought my own subscription, I think it was 49 Euros for the year.
