Any specific theme for PBL?

What grade levels?
Any at this point. Just doing research to find out information. Any ideas.
My district just had Thom Markham, Ph.D in to do an in-service for two days. He'll be back for two more days in March. I thought he was very good. He use to work at the Buck Institute for Educationand has written a book about PBL. He's a consultant now. If you can't get a hold of him through the Buck Institute, I could call some one at our district office and see if I can get his contact info.
We just had David Ross, Director of Professional Development for the Buck Institute, speak to all of our Principals yesterday.  He will be back next week to meet with our AP's. You can reach him at david@bie.org

The Buck Institute is a good option as previously noted. Another option is http://leadingpbl.org. It's an initiative in Michigan where two education consultants for the county provide training to teachers state-wide. It's founded in the work of the Buck Institute. Anyone can use the site to do their own PD--by going through the modules a teacher completes a PBL template that puts them in a good place to then gather the resources for implementation. Check out the PBL Gallery and the learning process that last year's cohort did with MIC09.
Mr. McCarthy,
You were just at my district not that long ago. I believe you spoke with my co-worker Ron about doing some trainings for us. We do have a link to that wiki. Very cool. Thank you for the information, it will be very helpful for our teachers.

Small world :)
I helped facilitate a workshop offered by Buck Institute on the topic. I thought they did a very good job!

I would recommend Peter Pappas, a former administrator, educator, and now a presenter. Here's his blog... and contact info:

http://www.peterpappas.com/contact  . Tell him he was recommended by Lori Callister at Learning.com. Good luck!

Overcoming writers block

Writer’s block is a term you’ve probably heard often. The amazing and confusing thing about writer’s block is that people apply the term to drastically different experiences. For many, “writer’s block” means a frustrating but temporary stall in their progress. For some authors, though, the phrase looms nightmarishly large and describes a recurring and debilitating struggle to move ideas from their mind to the page.Under the pressure of deadlines, almost everyone—from students to professors to…See More
