It's exciting to see this Ning grow with educators from all across the United States. I work at an educational service unit in Nebraska. My colleague and I provide professional development for 11 school districts in our area. Currently, seven of our districts are involved in the beginning stages of implementing Response to Intervention in their elementary schools. I would love to know how and if you are involved in Response to Intervention.

I taught middle school reading for several years and currently provide training on literacy across the curriculum in many schools. I totally believe reading is the bedrock of all other learning and try to get teachers to see the benefit of using reading strategies to increase student learning in content classes. I look forward to the conversations to come.

First, let me admit that I am a little technology challenged. However, thanks to Twitter, I have learned so much these past few weeks.

Why am I here? I have a master's degree in teaching reading and love talking about reading with anyone who will listen. I have many TWRCs (thoughts, wonderings, reflections, & connections) and aim to refine my knowledge. I am a member of my local, state, and international reading associations. I am serving as the President Elect of my local council this year. I love attending IRA's annual conventions and think I will be attending the World Congress of Reading for the first time this year. It's in New Zealand!

Anyway, while I was researching the locations of the conventions, I came accross www.tripadvisor.com and became an instant fan of their forums because I learned so much. I thought to myself, there should be a forum like this for teaching reading. I've been looking for them for about a year now, and cannot seem to find them. This led me to think I should create my own which I am trying to do at www.TWRCtank.com. Thanks to @mom2preteens, I have also discovered the englishcompanion ning. I was surprised at the number of groups there and cannot wait to explore the site further.

Sorry for the long post, but I am just so excited that 3 people joined a group called "All About Teaching Reading." I do hope this will become an active Personal Learning Network. I look forward to sharing and learning with you.
