Anyone using Twitter for Libraries?
Are there any out there using Twitter for your Libraries? I have set up a twitter account for our school district http://twitter.com/dentonisdlib I'm basically using it like a news feed and have a widget on our district Library Services webpage. Posting district library news, public library events that may be of interest to our students/parents, links to tutorials about our online catalog and online databases, cool websites that might be of interest, author birthdays etc.
If you are using Twitter for your library, what kinds of things are you posting?
I don't think I have a lot of local followers, since I don't know how many parents look at the district level library page. I'm not sure how I can get the word out.

I'm considering creating a Twitter acct. for our Library, maybe starting with one just for teachers in my building, then opening one up for students/community.
My reservation has been that occassionally I get unsavory (ie porn) followers on my own Twitter acct that I really just use as a PLN tool. I'm hesitant to invite students and parents to sign up for Twitter if they are going to get slammed with spam and porn followers.
I'd be interested to know how others deal with this. My bosses would not be happy to get parent phone calls about such things. -

I use http://www.socialoomph.com/ for scheduling my twitter posts. It has the capability to vet new followers. I'm sure it won't keep all of the bad ones out, but help greatly to reduce them.
