Instructional Coaches

I would like to hear from those of you who have instructional coaches collaborating with the teachers at your school. In your opinion, what are some of the tasks they complete or guide others to accomplish that have the greatest impact? Those of you who believe you work side-by-side with a tremendously inspirational instructional coach I wonder if you would share a brief story about this person?

Web Literacy For Educators

Full of new ideas and lots of texts from ISTE, I began with Alan November's "Web Literacy for Educators". It seemed the most appropriate place to start. I went into it thinking "What should I know before I can teach my students"..This is what I walked away with... in short, of course.

5 minutes to showcase?

So, I have applied for a school district out of my home state. I have progressed to the 2nd phase of the application process (which is huge in my eyes). The second phase requires me to record a 5-minute lesson plan showcasing my talents as a teacher. As a first year teacher, I find this a challenge to greatly demonstrate my skills, strategies, ideas and techniques in such a limited amount of time.

However, because I would really like to get this job, I have gone with what is required of… Continue

ISTE- Unbelievable!

You can tell it has been 3 days since my last blog, and with good reason! The last three days have been the most incredible, information packed days I can remember in a very long time. I went into ISTE with a plan. I was truly in need of learning how to manage the modern-day classroom and increase student and teacher efficiency in the classroom. This past year has not been my best in the classroom, and as a reflecting practitioner, I can recognize that.

MY plan was shot all to pieces… Continue

Hypnotize Them

Grammar.

Many shudder at the mere mention of the word.

Personally, I like it.

It's powerful.

The way people speak is the way they think.

The way they choose to order their thoughts, the way they construct their ideas in sentences... personally, I find it a trip.

But, that's just me.

Most of the other 6 billion humanoids, that share this orbiting rock with me,… Continue
