What teacher can do to techno-fy their classrooms.

It is always difficult to figure out what way to integrate technology and how to use these new tools in ways that make sense. http://blend2learn.org/2012/04/14/a-day-in-the-life/.

this link describes some of the strategies the teachers I work with are using. I would love any thoughts or feedback.

What Khan and Khan't happen: the future of Math Education in this country

The beginning of the month saw the publication of an insightful and thought provoking post at Mathalicious. This post really probed the conversation around Khan Academy and the changes that this product and platform has brought to the world of math education. While I agree with much of what was written, there are some aspects of the authors claims that I find problematic.…

Project Design

The success of any project is largely due to how well it has been thought out.  In drivers ed. one of the few things I remember is the instructor telling me "to plan your route ahead of time, so that you are not making flash decisions while in a moving vehicle surrounded by other moving vehicles doing unpredictable things."  Seemed like very sound advice to a nervous new driver, and a new teacher.

My newest project

I have recently become more involved in an interesting pilot project that is building off of my summer research. Funded by the Gates Foundation I am embarking on uncovering the nuances of moving towards a Blended integration of technology into a Project Based learning environment. I hope to discover innovative ways to work with teachers and students and I hope that you all will follow and provide feedback throughout the process

They used it a remedial tool for students who struggle in math and as a way to provide extra support and practice, as a skill builder. For summer school we have decided to launch a prototyping of blended learning using google's new Chromebooks. We are in the beginning stages, the students in both the control and experimental groups are taking the pre-test. The control group is receiving traditional Algebra…

More Than a Sport: A Look at Scootering’s Evolution

Too many people do not have a clear idea about what is a Scooter; and much less than there is a sport based on it. Besides, it is a sport that has evolved a lot from its beginning, but if you do not know too much about the sport is hard to see it as more than a kid game. However, this sport is more than just kids and young people making scooter tricks in a square; scootering is a kind of culture and a lifestyle that has more than 20 years growing to become what it is today. For this reason, we…See More
