Web Literacy For Educators

Full of new ideas and lots of texts from ISTE, I began with Alan November's "Web Literacy for Educators". It seemed the most appropriate place to start. I went into it thinking "What should I know before I can teach my students"..This is what I walked away with... in short, of course.

Anyone can author a web page.

The most important thing in web literacy is to know the Grammar of the Internet. Things teachers take for granted, such as how to read a URL, how to find out who… Continue

ISTE- Unbelievable!

You can tell it has been 3 days since my last blog, and with good reason! The last three days have been the most incredible, information packed days I can remember in a very long time. I went into ISTE with a plan. I was truly in need of learning how to manage the modern-day classroom and increase student and teacher efficiency in the classroom. This past year has not been my best in the classroom, and as a reflecting practitioner, I can recognize that.

MY plan was shot all to pieces… Continue

ISTE 2010 Day 2 Part 2 June 27

While investigating the numerous opportunities and resources available to educators that I was learning about in the SMART workshop, I overtasked my battery and was unable to master the texting that the 2013's have so eloquently managed to do without even looking at a keyboard, so I return today with the rest of yesterday's wonderful enlightenment.

Session 3 by Ms. Hero was very helpful in seeing how interactive whiteboards can make the classroom more efficient and engaging to…

Digital Content for Digital Natives:Engaging Today's Tech-Savvy Students

Meg Ormistron

WOW! She's dynamic. She is really showing us what classrooms look like in today's world without technology. My greatest aha has been "We didn't ban pencils when kids could poke others with them, so why are we banning technology(cell phones, etc) from our classrooms?"

Student engagement is…

ISTE Day 1-June 26

What a wonderful experience arriving in Denver for ISTE this year. The city is warm and friendly, the Volunteers are kind and helpful with a great sense of humor, and excitement abounds.

After a hurried check-in, we took off to white-water rafting at Clear Creek Rafting Company. I highly recommend this adventure tour to anyone who has some time available on Tuesday for the next round of that tour. The guides were wonderful, knowledgable and comforting. I never dreamed I would…

Integration with The Latest Technology in Education Field

It is with certainty that we can say that the future of education is looking very bright. Today the kids are taught so many new innovations that we adults couldn't have imagined learning at school. They are also given exposure to more practical lessons. Integration with the latest technology and the accessibility to global platforms have made the industry take a whole new perspective towards imparting knowledge to students. Though the current generation is much advanced and keep up with the…See More
