The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

An invitation to my Educator's PLN colleagues to also join me in the Higher Education Teaching and Learning group on LinkedIn

A couple months ago Patrick Blessinger created this new group. The mission is to create a global community of educators (administrators/managers, faculty/researchers, students/learners) who have an interest/expertise in the art/science of higher education teaching and learning. Members represent most countries, disciplines, functions, and levels to create a global perspective on teaching and learning, i.e., the multifaceted teaching-learning process that results in the generation of new knowledge and skills. The aim is to create new knowledge about teaching and learning to improve higher education.

Example topics include:

- international teaching and learning (join subgroup),
- technology in teaching and learning (join subgroup),
- diversity in teaching and learning (join subgroup),
- effectiveness in teaching and learning (join subgroup):
--- faculty/teaching credentialing and training,
--- faculty/teaching development and mentoring,
--- faculty/teaching quality and performance,
--- faculty/teaching assessment and evaluation,
--- student/learning advising and counseling,
--- student/learning engagement and motivation,
--- student/learning assessment and evaluation,
--- student/learning retention and graduation,
- teaching and learning outcomes and measurement,
- teaching and learning theories and methods,
- program/course design and management,
- research on higher ed teaching and learning.

The group has grown rapidly and is now the largest LinkedIn group of its type. Patrick recently asked Charles Wankel and I to co-manage the group with him. Management teams have also been assembled for the various
subgroups. The group has constrained all promotional activity to one subgroup, the Marketplace.

I am personally inviting my Educator PLN colleagues join this closed group and thousands of post secondary educators worldwide in this effort to share, collaborate, discuss and improve teaching and learning in higher education. Between the Educator's PLN and the Higher Education Teaching and Learning Group, you can have access to one group spanning all levels of education and another focused on issues in the Higher Education subset.

The group profile URL, where you can learn more about the group is:

I am also asking you to invite your colleagues and connections whom may also have an interest in this group and its mission.

Sincerely,

Terry Eberhart
