The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

Registration is now open for EdcampPlano which is scheduled for May 14, 2011 at the Sockwell Center from Professional Development in Plano, TX.

Registration opened Friday, April 1st at 6:00 AM and after one full day, the event has secured almost 100 attendees making it a third of the way full with capacity being set at 300. Numerous North Texas school districts will be represented at EdcampPlano and districts as far away as North East ISD in San Antonio, TX will be in attendance as well. Additional registrants will be traveling from Oklahoma and Kansas. EdcampPlano Organizers are very impressed with the early numbers, but not shocked, because they are aware of the passion educators in North Texas possess.

EdcampPlano is completely free, with all refreshments and other amenities provide solely through sponsorships and donations. There have already been a large number of both local and national organizations recognize the power of EdcampPlano. These organizations understand the pressures and challenges educators face today and want to partner with them in becoming the best they can be to further inspire students in their districts, schools and classrooms.

EdcampPlano Sponsors Include:

SimpleK-12                             North Texas Shirt Company

Live Binders                            Edutopia

With the possibility of hundreds of attendees, the organizers are looking for local businesses who may be interested in being featured as a sponsor. Those interested in being a sponsor can make donations and/or contact the organizers on the website or by email at

The conference will be free from corporate vendors and booths, with the focus being solely on conversations about education. Attendees will come from all over North Texas and will range from classroom teachers, coaches, and administrators to school board members. There will be time for attendees to gather informally to share ideas as well as a variety of sessions for them to attend that will all be run by their colleagues and fellow educators.
