The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

Off to another semester at UNA! Last one not so great as I dealt with some personal tragedy, but this time I am looking forward to a wonderful one!  I am a little overwhlemed with this technology course, but I have to realize it is a process.  Makes me a little uneasy.  My students know way more than I do which I find quite entertaining at times. since I go my degree much late in life than most.   I bought two iPads for my classroom in December, my students had them up and running in no time.  What an eye opening experience that was.  I can learn more from them than they will ever learn from me I am sure, the little digital natives. :) I have already seen results in math with some of my most challenged students. Guess I am off to good start though, I did get to look at those three blogs and comment on them.  I also discovered how to "friend three wonderful new UNA friends".  Now if I just knew how that twitter account that I already have at school works. Hmmmm.  One thing at a time. :o)

George, Rest assured that there is a classroom with kids out there that need you as much as you need them! I too struggled finding a position and subbed for a year, then worked as a reading instrucrional assistant for a year before being hired. Never give up- learn all you can and gleam all the information from the teachers you meet as you sub!  This will be an invaluable experience and resource for you! I am also glad to meet with you and hope to speak with you over the semester!  Lori Ann

Hello Lori Ann, I am just beginning my Masters program at UNA this semester. So far it has been going pretty well. I am so sorry to hear you had some personal tragedy. I pray you have a much better semester this time. I too feel overwhelmed with this technology course, not having my own classroom (I'm just a sub) has it's positives and negatives. The positives mainly being, I get to experience many different classroom cultures from day to day. The negatives being, I don't have an established routine, and am pretty much guided by the teachers plan. You talk about the students establishing the iPads for you in no time. I recently purchased a smartphone and am not tech-savvy with it. The other day, my four year old cousin, showed me how to enlarge a picture using my thumb and index finger. My challenge here has been adding my Google RSS to the RSS section here. I've tried to but it will not allow me to use the URL's. I also am not too aware of how to Tag, but I'm sure I will figure it out somehow. It's nice to meet you, good luck with the semester.   George

Integration with The Latest Technology in Education Field

It is with certainty that we can say that the future of education is looking very bright. Today the kids are taught so many new innovations that we adults couldn't have imagined learning at school. They are also given exposure to more practical lessons. Integration with the latest technology and the accessibility to global platforms have made the industry take a whole new perspective towards imparting knowledge to students. Though the current generation is much advanced and keep up with the…See More
