The world in which we are living in is RAPIDLY changing. I remember at university having an hour long lecture on how to set up an email account!!!!???. I also remember how a set of accient encyclopedia's, in my bedroom was my a family point of call when I had a homework task to complete. I also remember their dusty smell as they were opened (as I think they were my dads, before mine)
Now whenever I hit a conundrum that its Google, google, google. Imagine always having the resource of the Internet at the touch of a button'. That is the children I teach today's reality. This is what has really got me thinking and has done for a while.
Constantly striving to improve and do better?- Probably my greatest strength and weakness in one.
I attended a training course yesterday, it has really made me think. Based around the theme of 21st century teachers and technologies. It has made me think so much, that after a restless night I awoke at 4:00, with the internal desire to scourer the Internet further, for innovative online resources to help me further my teaching. This has then prompted me to create my own Blog.
The aim of this blog will be to complete two tasks, firstly I want to use it as a tool to evaluate and reflect upon my teaching. Then seconly to act as a resource for other teachers of useful websites and resources that I find and use.
You may ask? I am a Food technology/ Hospitality/Catering teacher from the West Midlands who is passionate about teaching and wanting children to succeed. Since starting teaching it has become my vocation. I would like to break the myth that all food teachers do is make fruit salad and spaghetti bolognase- There is a bit more to it than that or at least I think there is anyway!
I am currently studying my MA in Design and Technology education at Sheffield Hallum.I am also a member of DATA's innovation group.
My greatest achivement so far in my life, but I hope there will be many more to come.
The ICT Bit- These are just a few initial points that may help. (I am no ICT geek I simply want to share resouces, which have helped me and I use)
My aim over the next few weeks is to use some of these
I will let you know how I get on!!!
(Thank you for the inspiration UN!)
