Is Online Degree Course Enrollment The New Sensation?

How enticing will it be if an online learning institution offers online degree courses at one fifth of the cost of traditional collage or university? Or a degree, that is acquired by staying at home, which has the same valuation in relation to a degree obtained from a recognised traditional university? Believe it or not this is the future of education. Student and working professionals can earn a degree irrespective of his monetary issue or time management problem. That's why online learning is the most talked about topic today.

Numerous surveys proved that the engagement of the students and active learners to online learning increases by 50% over the past 12 months. Thanks to its flexible and career-oriented education delivery system, which is attracting more and more learners for enrolling in online degree courses. Here are the reasons behind the increasing popularity of online learning.

Providing a wide range of curricula options:

Online learning offers students a diverse range of online degree courses which is equivalent to any traditional institution. Learners gain the same experience but through a different delivery format. Students from all over the world will have unlimited accession to virtually any study course and study material in just about any language.

Customised learning experience:

Learning schedule offered by online education can actually be tailored by the students whenever they feel the need of it. Active learners can pick a program that best fits their organization's needs. They can actually put emphasis on the exact area of interest among the various course that online learning offers.

Online Education for all:

An individual can opt for any online degree courses irrespective of age and profession.

“Learning is not just an activity for the young anymore. Over 80 percent of online learners on Coursera are over the age of 22,” says Rick Levin, CEO of Coursera and former President of Yale University. “The most active online learners are professionals, mums, and dads with many commitments, and a desire to proactively make a significant change to their lives.”

This is an age of competition. Constant upgrade of personal skills is required to thrive. Whether you are a student or a manager of a company, online learning will help you to gain specialisation in any domain. The basic difference between traditional learning and online learning is that face-to-face learning in a brick-and-mortar classroom offers a education which will cost you time and money. On the other hand online learning provides a radical approach towards education where a student can customise his needs. He can choose what to learn and when to learn. Now that learners are more interested in a education that improves their career prospects they are going for online degree courses without hesitating.

As Levin says, “Online courses are rapidly growing in reputation, and are being acknowledged as important and legitimate qualifications to help boost career progression. They provide accessible education across geographic boundaries and time zones, without compromising on teaching quality and credential recognition.”

I laughed out loud when I read, “Learning is not just an activity for the young anymore. Over 80 percent of online learners on Coursera are over the age of 22.”

I'm over 22.

I'm old.
