MOOC: A Real Deal For The Advanced Learners

We are living in a generation where the need of education among the students are higher than ever. Today's students are thinking of competing in this 'global society'. And to do so they have a diverse range of educational need. To impart that much of education educators need to think beyond the traditional educational system and introduce an alternative platform that will quench student's desire. Kerri Morgan, the director of Wildbase Oil Response, Massey University says,

“The demand for high-quality university education and research is outstripping supply. More people than ever are going to university and we currently have a generation of learners whose needs are diverse.”

MOOC is such a platform where learners can engage themselves in studying in whatever courses they want remotely. The introduction of massive open online courses have been making a big difference in the entire educational system. If a student feels the need of obtaining online school degree or learning a relatively new skill that might help him getting a job, then the only choice he is left with is joining MOOC.

Why And How MOOC Is Gaining Ground In Educational System?

Imagine a student from an African country wants to acquire a degree in anthropology which the university of his region in not currently offering a degree course, or a working professional who is struggling to make time to obtain a necessary skill that he thinks is important to upgrade his career. MOOC is the solution to all these common problems that students are facing. It offers a customised solution for the working students and professionals, who, due to the limitation of scheduled time, needs the opportunity to continue his study any time he wants.

Online learning has a robust upshot on the learners due to its amalgamation with technology. Studying has never been so easy. All students have to do is logging into his account through a smart-phone and start streaming course materials. They can pause, they can rewind, or even can save any content for future use.

Is Online Learning Empowering Students?

Yes, by giving the students the power to choose what to read and when to read. Online learning is a flexible approach to traditional education. Unlike a traditional classroom, online learning is all about students – as they are the soul of education, not teachers.

What MOOC Has To Offer?

Students can choose to get an online school degree among the several courses MOOC usually offers. No matter what educational and social background he is from, online learning institutes are always ready to give access to all.

Finally, Should Universities Adopt Online Learning?

Without a doubt yes! Online learning bridges the hiatus between quality education for better career and a proper system that is required to obtain it. It is well known that university alone can't teach the techniques and skills which are needed to upgrade a student's career. Online learning works as a parallel learning institution with a digital background. If the sole aim of schools, colleges and universities are to make the students more competent and proficient those institutes should definitely adopt online learning.

Wrapping up another year

I teach sixth grade, so I will be saying goodbye to my students in about a week. I'll see them in the hallways, but it won't be the same. They'll never be in my classroom again. That's weird to think about right now, when all I do is see them.It has me wondering; did I serve them as best I could? Did I impart all the wisdom I could into their little brains? Did I ignite a spark, or reaffirm a defeatist attitude?I have to be honest, there are some kids I won't miss. You know the kids I'm talking…See More
