Surface area and volume of a triangular prism

Triangular prism is a three dimensional geometric shape. There are many examples of triangular prisms in our daily lives, such as a tent or a wedge.

It got its name because of its two triangular faces (act as bases of the prism). The rest of the three faces are rectangular in shape.

To find its surface area, the easiest method is to find the area of each of its face and add all five measurements. To do the task kids can draw a net of the prism.

The volume of the prism is always the area of any of the triangular face and multiplied by the distance between two triangular faces.

Hence the knowledge to find area of a triangle is the key to find the surface area and volume of a triangular prism.
