The restricted learning: Low income background students accessing education with single mobile device

The online learning with mobile technology has further revolutionised the education. It has significantly is engaging e-learners predominantly. With internet connectivity and mobile devices accessing affordable UK online distance learning courses are convenient and worthy. But what if one has the limited mobile internet to access the web? Will the learner be able to get all the information? It's obvious that with internet constraints, entry to the valuable online learning resources cannot be accessed. The issue remains the area of concern for the low-income background learners. With restricted internet data students might not receive the required learning help and grasp to the knowledge contents.

Access issue

It's found that technology is being used by the young to explore the involve to the resources of their choice. Learner from low-income background may access whole of it with restricted internet from their mobile devices. One among the 5 families using internet via their mobile devices has to share the device. Thus, it makes the access to the web limited for every individual. The outcome of this restricted entry to the web learning would create blockade for different forms of learning. This limited access may affect even access to the affordable UK university degree courses online

The world has lots of scope for the individuals who can match up with new techs and trends. But it can pose serious and severe challenges for those are left behind. Today, from child to aged person knows the power of the internet. In this scenario, restricted access to web resources for self-enlightenment can cost dear ignoring the reality. The youth of new age desire greater educational resources and help. For example learning coding skills in mobile devices may not be as convenient as in computers or laptops. Hence, relevant learning device and sufficient internet access are required to receive the real and meaningful learning. But does low-income families have both? In the devoid of both the young learner lags behind from their millions of other students. This might pose challenges for personal and most essentially personal development and scopes.

With sufficient internet access, the learner can learn what he/she wants to study with cost effective online learning programmes. It'll help them to access integrate distinctive and individual interest, group connection, and attainment in, academic and career fulfillment. It can be said that with modern learning technique and tool learner can develop better prospects for future.

Tech reality

The report of Opportunity for all? Technology and learning in low-income families reveal that one among four in median income and one in three below poverty level accessed the web only via mobile devices. It's is clear from the report that internet access only via single mobile phone can have the affect on youths entry to knowledge prospects.

According to Amanda Ochsner, Post doctoral Researcher, University of Southern California, “In offices where the most recent models of laptops, tablets, and iPhones are abundant, it’s far too easy for those of us who develop educational tools and technologies to misjudge the technological realities of the young people the education tools and technologies are designing for.”

Impact of mobile apps in e-learning

Although for certain learning PC and Laptop are preferred but we cannot ignore the fact that with mobile learning apps around the fingertip. There are so many advanced learning techs that make accessing knowledge convenient and easy. Many learning apps allow the user to download the study materials. That means the learner can carry the learning resources anywhere and store it to their digital devices as long as they want. Besides, these mobile learning apps provide notifications of next learning activities, homework, assignments. There are apps which allow students to text and video chat with the online teachers.

Providing the support

There should be a system to support the learners from low and below the poverty line background to carry out their educational needs. Since the data of these students are available it's important that they receive all the help when it comes taking learning via online. The internet access and learning devices should not stop them from exploring the vast canvas of knowledge available at the web.
