The Educator's PLN

The personal learning network for educators

The Yellow Brick Road has changed colour again

When the brick road changes again in you professional life it impacts on your personal life. As I am told today that I am part of the carnage of the 2.5% of teachers salary cuts for OTEN (TAFE) which will occur every year for the next 4 years; has an unexpected effect on me. As I have never lost a position of employment; I wonder where the road will lead next. I know that I have finished my practicum for my MTeach (Primary), I will be finishing my university studies in October and able to work casually. Is there a job for me? The ideal employment situation is part time, teaching both Primary and Secondary HSC. It seems that this is a "pie in the sky" thought. What about competing with cheaper first year out teachers for positions? Is the lifelong investment into my education going to pay off?

Optimist - I used to be. Hoping for the best - more than likely....
