We’re inspiring tomorrow’s change agents and empowering them with the skills and tools to effect positive change in their communities. It all starts by engaging the creative, physical, and technical skills that have been identified as necessary to both adapt and thrive in our ever changing world.

We also believe in diverse and dynamic groups. We see great benefit in connecting young people with leaders in their fields, experts and those in the wise age, the third age of life. Social inclusion, community building and sharing knowledge are a big parts of what we do.

It takes a community to raise a school. Brought to you by ideas@play, throughout Sept-Nov 2011 the Reinventing School challenge aims to remove the invisible walls that sometimes surround our schools and invite collaboration from the local community and beyond.

Learning happens everywhere, and so does this challenge

Parents, local business, local Government and community leaders are all important stakeholders that we want to engage in the process of making our children’s 21st century learning relevant and exciting.

We aim to promote Design Thinking as a fundamental method for addressing problems and designing the future. We are also following the four pillars of playopen environments, flexible tools, modifiable rules and superpowers.

Inspired by people such as Sir Ken RobinsonRichard GerverLaura Seargeant Richardson,Chris Lehmann and Jane McGonigal, we’re encouraging young Australians to embrace the role of designer and collaborate with people all over the world. We’ll empower them to use the tools they already love to use online and offline and use social media to deliver the message, create and connect with communities.

The challenge incorporate Design Thinking, collaboration, media literacy, social media, gamification, play, and the use of mobile technologies to bring about collaborative experiences that inspire and empower young people.

Beyond the classroom

Come join us. People expect to be able to learn, and study whenever and wherever they want to. You don’t have to be part of a formal learning organisation to get involved.  You can simply host a challenge as a plugin to an existing group you are part of.

Schools, Scouts, Girl Guilds, Meet Up, Youth Group, Rotary, Sports Club. You name it, Make it happen.

Find a venue. Host your Reinventing School challenge party in your club, the school library, local community centre or at home with your family and friends. Get you business involved. Tap into the intellectual capital and imagination of your employees and make a challenge part of your team building or corporate citizenship program.

Throughout Sept-Nov 2011 you can attend a free webinar each week to inspire you and you can tweet or chat your questions in for our experts to answer during live streaming events and webinars.
