More Than a Sport: A Look at Scootering’s Evolution

Too many people do not have a clear idea about what is a Scooter; and much less than there is a sport based on it. Besides, it is a sport that has evolved a lot from its beginning, but if you do not know too much about the sport is hard to see it as more than a kid game.

However, this sport is more than just kids and young people making scooter tricks in a square; scootering is a kind of culture and a lifestyle that has more than 20 years growing to become what it is today.

For this reason, we want to tell you a little bit about the travel that scootering has made to become one of the most popular sports among people of all ages. Of course, in the same way, the sport has changed, the Stunt scooter has made it too. But, do not worry because we are going to tell you the details about it.

Razor craze: the beginning.

The scooter craze began with the big marketing of some model of the scooter that could be folded. Between the ‘80s and the beginning of the new millennium was when the scooters earn popularity, all influenced by the razor brand. The big marketing campaign of razor created a total frenzy.

However, the popularity did not last forever and started to decrease significantly. But, despite the popularity of the scooter decrease, there already was a community that wanted to be united and be part of the movement. The advances with the internet let Andrew Broussard who is the scooter coordinator of the Nitro World Games, created a forum about scooter tricks, news, and tips about this sport.

We are talking about Scooter Resource which became the perfect place where the riders of the stunt scooter can show thei tricks to the entire world in this community. In this way, the videos, photos, styles, and tricks went around the world that it makes that more and more people want to be part of this sport.

The scooters and the equipment had to be better.

Of course, when scootering became a reality, the old model of scooters did not fit the necessities of the riders. They wanted a stunt scooter that can resist the jumps and cushion the fall. Besides, they want all those improvements without losing the high speed.

Once the companies and brands understand the necessity of the riders to have a better stunt scooter, the sport kept growing and evolving. It means they started to create videos to show the world how much incredible the scooter tricks were. For sure, the evolution of the edition programs also helped a lot.

In general lines, the scootering seemed from a different perspective, and a lot of people want to give it a try. In this way, all the dreams behind the use of a scooter like a sport became a reality. Currently, hundreds of people are getting more and more interested in scootering and scooter tricks.
