one challenge, as I see it, is the practitioner hears this and agrees but stops short of real action as they gaze up at the enormous DEPARTMENTS of education which control funding. Whether simply perceived or real, it feels as though until they change our institutions are forced to march to the compliance mandates i.e. Common Core as assessed by PARCC, new teacher/principal evaluation tied to assessment(s). I am interested in how Seth or Sir Ken feel we can influence policy change in this environment? In my district we have tried to support innovative ideas, but they quickly get less support if we fail to hit the compliance marks and are then labeled as "failing" by the department. Great post - loved the ideas Seth shared...
