What's included in a district seat license
Every district contract covers the same core surface area: site-wide educator memberships (replacing what would otherwise be 200 to 5,000 individual free accounts), a private district library layered on top of the public 215,000-resource collection, and a closed cohort hosting environment that mirrors the public EduPLN structure your teachers already know. The 11-minute average forum response time is preserved inside private districts — the same peer-density that drives it on the public site applies, because your teachers are joining an existing verified-educator network rather than starting from zero. CC-BY licensing on lesson contributions is inherited by default, with an opt-out for districts that prefer to keep instructional materials internal.
How cohort hosting works
When your association or regional PD program buys a cohort license, we provision a private sub-community with its own discussion spaces, resource library, and member directory. Your program director and a designated co-moderator get full administrative access; we provide a written moderation handbook and a 90-minute onboarding session for your team. Cohort members sign in with their existing EduPLN credentials (or we issue district-SSO credentials if you prefer). Cohorts can be time-bounded (a semester-long book study) or persistent (a multi-year professional learning community) — the platform doesn't care which, the difference is a checkbox.
What an average multi-year contract looks like
The 340 districts currently on contract range from a single-building private school with 22 educators to a state-wide consortium covering 18,000. Pricing scales on verified-educator seat count, not on total district enrollment, which keeps the math honest for districts with high teacher turnover. Most contracts run three years with annual renewals inside that window; we publish the per-seat rate card on request so your business office can model it against existing PD line items before the first call. There are no setup fees, no per-cohort surcharges, and no pay-to-feature placements in the public library — that prohibition is in our terms of service because it's the whole reason teachers trust the platform.
